SERPENTINE.
(From our own correspondent.)
This spring lias been one of the driest we have had here f< r some lime. The only stir is being carried on by the Chinese. There are about 100 Chinamen on the field, their chi< f haunt being the Lammer'aw ranges. I believe they will open up a new field there this summ r. Our two storekeepers are kept busy by tbem. There is some talk that they intend to establish a store for themselves. They are Bf»id to be getting very good gold at the Lammerlaw. At tho rate 'hey are coming I expect to see some two hundred in nere before long. The proprietors of the quartz reef are going on very slow'y in regard to testing the reef. I hear that they are going to try a new shaft shortly. The European miners have not yet washed up. They all "seem to be well sati fied with their prospects.
