Jones applied for a tail race, but as it appeared that it was not for goldmining, but for the drainage of lignite workings, the Warden declined to make any grant, and informed Mr. Jones that lie should apply to the District Land Officer, for a grant under the Waste Lands Act. Leases.— Scandinavian Company, ten acres at terrace south of Yorky's Gully. JNo objection. Granted, subject to survey—John Ewing, ten acres near Reservoir Greek. No objection. Granted, subject to survey.—Robert Browu; and others, six acres, lower end of Viripgar Hill. No objection. Granted, subject to survey. —W. and J. Thurlow, three acres, to include an area of two acres, for which application had been previously made, top of spur above Dongee's old farm, Shepherd's Hut Creek. Surrender for Cancellation.—J. Turner surrendered certificate No. 837 for ah expended claim, ono acre, top of Rowe's Gully. *
