ST. BATHANS.
•Resident Magistbate's Court.;(Before H. W. Kobiuson, Esq., E..M.) Affray.—Samuel Hanger and Edward Wheeler, appeared to answer an information for making an affray, in a public street at St. Bathans, to the terror of ber Majesty's subjects, &c. It appeared that tho row had arisen in a dispute about a handsaw, and the defendant (Hanger) bad struck the other defendant (a mere lad) with the flat of the saw. The boy beingstrong, and Hanger an elderly man, the result was that both came to the ground. Some amusement was occasioned in Court when the Magistrate asked if anybody had been much frightened. The Court considered the case of quite a trivial nature, and discharged both parties. + Wabden's Cofbt. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., Warden.) John Cormick and .Richard Wheeler v. John Griffiths.—The complaint ia this case set forth that, on the ]Bth of Sep? tember, Griffiths had sold to the plaintiffs his' half interest in an extended claim of two acres at Vinegar Hill, for the sum of £23, and that he had refused to complete the transaction by executing a transfer, and the complainants asked that he should be adjudged to execute the transfer, or to pay £5 damages. On opening the case, it. appeared that the sale was not denied, but, as there had been no witness, defendant thought he was able to back out of it. It came out in evidence that the plaintiffs had first bonght the interest of Griffiths's partner, and that Griffiths had immediately afterwards sold them his share at the same price, and given them possession ■—removing the tools. The C<u-t enquired wheo the purchase moniy had been paid, and plaintiffs stated that, they had paid no money to Griffiths but had offered to pay. The Warden observed that they did not appear to have suffered any particular rhimage, as they .had got thti property without any pay-
mp.nt. It would be time enough for them to demand a transfer from Griffiths when he (Mr. Griffiths) thought fit to demand payment. Case dismissed."
