Mr. Feraud has succeeded in producing AROMATIC TOKIC BITTER WINES, which are not only agreeable beverages, but also have excellent medicinal qualities. The following is Professor Black?s report:— " University/' Dunedin, Otago, New. Zea- : ' * - land Laboratory. '...■' ■'.-' Class Beverages. ■■•'■'■'■■■ -'-' ' November sth, 1875. : I have examined for Mr. J. D. 'Feraud, of Monte Christo, Clyde, Otago, two samples of Aromatic Tonic Bitters, with the 'following result; N0.'827-is a sherry colored; and No. 828 is a port wine, red colored liquid j they are both perfectly transparent showing the purity of the water and other substances 'employed in their manufacture. These two beverages have a alight acid chemical reaction, and possess an. agreeable, cool bitter taste, blended with a sensation of sweetness, arising from the saccharine matter of the fruit, of which they are the fermented extract. I have also examined the aromatic and other flavoring substances used by Mr. Feraud in their manufacture, and from the proportions .in which they are blended with the fruit -CTir.c. tbey must be pronour.ced perfectly safe, aiio Tree from anything like deleterious properties. I conFider.tJiis wine, therefor?, an agreeable and perfectly wrje beverage, ant! when diluted [ with three or four times their bull: of- water, they will make' a eood cooling Rummer drink. JANIKS G.
