EERAT7D takes'the. present opportunity of informing residents of the Nortlicrn Goldtields and the generahpublic that hi 3 Factory being replete with every convenience, he is now turning out an article riot to be equalled.' Mr. Feraud has succeeded in producing AEOMATIC TOMC BITTEE TVINES, which are not only agreeable beverages, but also have excellent medicinal qualities. The following is Professor Black's report • "University, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand Laboratory. Class Beverages. November sth, .1875. I have examined for Mr. J. D. Feraud, of Monto Ohristo, Clyde, Otago, two samples of Aromatic Tonic Bitters, with the following result: No. 827 is a sherry colored, and No. 828 is a port wine red colored liquid ; they are both perfectly transparent showing the purity of the water and other substances employed in their manufacture. These two beverages have a slight acid chemical reaction, and possess an agreeable, cool bitter taste, blended with a sensation of sweetness, arising from the saccharine matter of the fruit of which they are the fermented extract. I have also examined the aromatic and other flavoring substances used by Mr. Feraud in their manufacture, a'ud from the proportions, in? which tbey are blended with the fruit wine, they mu6t be pronounced perfectly, safe, and free from anything like, deleterious properties. , I consider this wine, therefore, an agreeable and perfectly safe beverage, and when diluted with three or four times their bulk of water tbey will make a good cooling summer drink JAMES G.
