Mr. Feraud hasfusceeded in producing ' " ; ARO3IiTXC : TOMC BITTETi AVINEs!,'' ° ' which . are : not only' agreeable beverages, but also, have exeellentmedicin.il qualities. The following is Professor Black's report "'University,' Dunedin',' Otago, New Zea- : ; ' " - lmid Laborn tory. ; ' ; ' ■CI as s.— 1 - Reveta ge s. ■ - ' ' November sth, 1875. ■ 1.-rhavo examined for Mr, J. D. Feraud, of Monte Ohrisf.Q, C'Jyde, Otago, two sample's' of : Ar.oqmt.ic_; , Tunic Bitters, with the following result; No. 827 is a siieny colored, and. No. 828 is a port.wine red colored liquid ; they are both perfectly transparent showing the purity of the water and otber s.ubstances employed in their manufacture. These two beverages hare a slight acid chemical reaction, and possess' an agreeable, cool bitter taste, blended with a sensation of" sweetness, arising from t.he saccharine matter of the fruit of which they are the fermented extract. - , , I have also . examined the aromatic ; and other flavoring substances used by Mr. Feraud in their manufacture, and from'the proportions in which they are blended with the fruit wine, they must be pronounced perfectly snfe, and free from anything like deleterious properties. I consider tin's wine, therefore, an agreeable and perfecUv safe beverage, and when diluted with three qr four times their bulk of Water they will muke a good cooling summer drink ' JAMES G.
