The heavy winds ou Friday, the 4th, did a little mischief here—the stables of the school residence being carried some distance down the. gully. The Perseverance Company suffered a greater loss, forty-six boxes on their upper race being blown down, which is a great pity, as the company is pretty well employed constructing a new tail race, and repairing their dam. Mr. Hobbs preached his first sermon on the evening of the 9th to a very attentive audience, There was a very good attendance for a week night—in tact, as a rule, our people generally turn out well on these occasions, notwithstanding their many hindrances. lam afraid, ay. the sei vices are to be continued every alternate week, there will be a falling of, as the water harvest is now approaching, so that many of those who would attend will be probably on the night shift, which cannot be avoided. Master W. H. Collett, organist of the Episcopal Church, Nasebjv by an invitation of our precentor, presided at the harmonium very efficiently. This was a change to the good people at Hamilton. Master Collett had several invitations from friends to pay us an occasional visit when convenient.
