The following is Professor Black's report ""Uriiversity, Dunedin, Otago, New Zea- . lnnd Laboratory. '- Class Beverages' V , Nbvember 5th,'1875. T; have examined for '3Er. J. T>. Feraud, of Monte Christo, Clyde, Otago, two samples of Aromatic Tonic Bitters,' with the fdltewinc result: 'No. 827 is a sheny colored, and Kb. 828 is a port wine red colored liquid!; they are both perfectly transparent showing, the ; purity of the, water and other, substances einployed in their manufacture. : These two :beverages .have. a. slight, licid :chemical, reaction, and, possess an . agreeable,; ,cool bitter laste, blended, with a'serisatiori of .sweetness, arising. from, the saccharine, matter of tfie i'ruit of which tlioy are, the fermented extract. ' '' I have also examined the .'aromatic and Other flavoring substances used by Mr. Feraiid 'in'tli'eir manufacture, and from the' proportions in which they'fire blended"'with the fruit wine; they must be pronounced perfectly safe, and freo from anything like deleterious .properties. " ■ I consider this wine,;therefore, lin agreeable and perfectly safe beverage, .and-when diluted with three or four times their bulk of water, they will make a good cooling summer drink. ; JA?.flfS G.
