RACING AT THE SOWBURN.
(Tothe Editor of the Mount Ida Chbomcxe.)
Sin, —Will you kindly allow me a short space in your columns to make a few remarks concerning tlie last racing on the Sowburn Racecourse. I quite agree with your late correspondent, but wa3 sorry to' see that he did not give a full account of the racing. Let me inform you and your numerous readers that this is the third time that Mr. Bowse has come back to Hamilton with the ribbons as proof of victory. I congratulate him for being so successful for these last four months, and trust that he will be as fortunate for the time to come. There were two other private matches run for, and won by our sportsmen afc Hamilton. I here that our new storekeeper is greatly annoyed with one of the races, saying that it was a jostling affair. I believe that master storekeeper knows more about horseraciiig and jostling than I do, therefore I shall be very thankful if he will explain himself, for I believe that it is every man's privilege to have his honest due. — I am., &c, A New Chum.
