ST BATHANS.
(From a correspondent.) The residents of this part of the district are anxiously looking for the erection of the footbridge over the Manuherikia. They know that tenders were called for it, but are not aware that any tender was accepted. If not, T for one, would like to know it the matter is to die out, and that, in consequence, we are not to have the accommodation proraised us. If a tender has been accepted the contractor should be urged to complete the work before mid-winter. Should it be necessary to call fresh tenders it is to be hoped that tradesmen of St. Bathans will cet a chance of seeing a copy of the specifications, as they were deprived of that privilege before. Prom their close proximity to the site of the bridge they should be able to perform the work cheaper than any others. As a. residents requested Mr. de Lautour to plead for the accommodation of a bridge in the first instance they will look to him to push it to a successful termination.
