The General Purposes Committee drew the attention of Hie Council to the deposit of tailings in ltoach's Gully, bordering on Tay-street. Ic was obvious that the first flood would bring water and tailings into the town, which, under the circumstances, the Committee advised that the Council should determine whether the Corporation should continue to protect the Town out of municipal funds until an outlet to ltoach's Gully is available to the miners. In the event of the Council deciding not to incur any further expense the Committee recommended that application be made to the Warden requesting him to issue an order to the miners causing the accumulation of tailings to keep up protective works during the winter. The report was adopted, and the Committee appointed to wait upon the Warden to ascertain his power in the matter. NOTICKS OF MOTION. Cr.
