Hesident Magistrate's Cocet. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., R.M.) AFFILIATION CASE. Mary Jane Prescott \. Patrick O'Connor. —Mr. Rowlatt for complainant, Mr. Bailey for defendant. This case was brought to compel defendant to contribute to the support of an illegitimate female child. The defendant denied the paternity, but admissions made by him to the father and mother of the complainant were taken by the Bench to be sufficient corroboration of her direct evidence. The evidence of the parents of the complainant was to the effect that she was weak in mind as well as body, having suffered from a paralytic stroke in her infancy, from which she had never properly recovered. The child had only lived four weeks. Defendant adjudged to be the putative father, and ordered to pay to the father of the complainant at the rate of 10s. per week for the period of the life of "the child—viz. ; four weeks, with costs and expenses, amounting to £5 2s. Warden's Court. (Before H. W. Hobinßou, Esq., Warden.) United M. and E. Company v. Patrick Garty. —Complaint, for forfeiture of portion of an extended claim ol' six acreß. It appeared from made, no evidence being taken, that the defendant (Garty) had mark«d out a claim of six acres, which he had left for a period ol Sor 9 mouths. Plaintiffs had marked as a claim (or themselves two acres of this ground, not knowing at the time that Garty had claimed it. Objection to the grant had been made by Garty, and the preßent case was brought to determine tho rights of the parties—application for two acres being in the meantime held over. The. decision of the Court was th;it tho ernifieato of Garty be cancelled in pari—'.hat is, as to the two acres marked out by the United M. and E. Company, thus reducing Garty'b area from 6 to 4 acres—to pay lis. costß. Grants. —United M. and E.
