Eesident Magistbate's Coubt. (Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., 8.M.) affiliation case. Mary Jane Prescoit v. Patrick O'Connor. —Mr. Rowlatt for complainant, Mr. .Bailey for defendant. This case was brought to compel defendant to contribute #,o the support of an illegitimate female child. The defendant denied the paternity, but admissions made by him to the fatr and mother of the complainant were takea by tbe Bench to be sufficient corroboration of her direct evidence The, evidence of thy parents of the com-piau-jftnt was to the effect that she was weak in mind as well as body, having suffes-ed from a paralytic' stroke in her infancy, from which she bad never properly recovered. The chilli-hart" only lived four weeks; Defendant adjudged to be the putative father, and ordered to pay to the father of the complainant at the rate of 10s. per week for the period of the life of the child—viz., four weeks, with, costs and expenses, amounting i to £5 2s.

"Warden's Court. (Before H. "W. Robinson, Esq., Warden.) United M. and E. Compauy v. Patrick Garty.—Complaint for forfeiture of portion of an extended claim of sir acres. It appeared from admissions made, no evidence being taken, that the defendant (Garty) had marked out a claim of six acres, which lie had left for a period of Bor 9 months. PlaintiiTs had marked as a claim for themselves two acres of this ground, not knowing at the lime that Garty had claimed it. Oojection to the grant had been made by Garty, and the present case was brought to determine the rights of the parties—application for two acres being in the meantime held oyer. The decision of the Court was thut the certificate of Garty be cancelled in part —that is, as to the two acres marked out by the United M. and JE. Company, thus reducing Girty's are i from G to 4 acres—to pay lis. costs. Grants.—United M. and E. Company, extended claim of 2 acres ; Eagle and another, alteration of tail race } Scandinavian VVater Race Company, extended claim of 2 acres; Same, extension of head race ; Patrick Garty, protection for 11 days for 4 acres ; Hughes and Morgan, extension of head race; James Phillips, residence area. Surrender for Cancellation.—Scandinavian Company surrendered certificate 4442 for extended claim of two acres at Surface Hill, St. Bathans.
