At Liverpool "William Whittaker, a bookseller, and formerly a schoolmaster, was summoned for neglecting to send his two children to school. He said at a previous hearing that he taught them himself quite as well as tbey would be instructed iu a boarding school, and the case was adjourned in order to test the efficiency of the education. An inspector now eaid that the children were not up ta tha required standard, and the defendant was fined 2b. 6di and costs in the . case of I'bilrl.
