The advantages gained from these Bells are as follows:—First, no cranks being used; and no pulling required, there is no danger of their getting out of order, as with ordinary bells: Second, they can be attached to doors, safes, &c, giving an alarm in case of burglary, and can also be employed to give alarm in'case of fire : Third, the,y are perfectly noiseless in their action, and distance is no object. :?Fourth, they can be introduced into finished apartments, without interfering in the least with the papering or painting, as the insulated wire can be made to match any oolor: Fifth, the eventual cost of supplying a housefwith these Bells is considerably less than the ordinary system, owing to the great in repairs, as when once properly fixed in position, tliey do not require to be disturbed again—no ripping up of walls and floors being required. This system can also be used for communicating between one part of a ship and another. B.
