They are also prepared to supply and fit up EiiEOTEic Bells on the moat approved principles. Mr. R. Cowan having devoted much of his time and attention for some years to the system of Electric Bells, and having contracted for and many large buildings in Scotland, he has been able to make considerable improvements in the various apparatus and material employed. These Bells are specially adapted for use in public buildings, manufactories, hotels, warehouses, mansion houses, lodge.gates, stables, &c. The advantages gained from these Bells are as follows : —First, no cranks being used, and no pulling required, there is no danger of their getting out of order, as with ordinary beUs: Second, they can be attached to doors, safes, &c, giving an alarm in case of burglary, and can also be employed to give alarm in case of fire : Third, they are perfectly noiseless in their action, and distance is noobject.: Fourth, they can be introduced into finished apartments, without interfering in the least with the papering or painting, as the insulated wire can be made to match any color: Fifth, the eventual cost of supplying a house with these Bells is considerably less than the ordinary system, owing to the great saving'in repairs, as when once properly fixed in position, they do not require to be disturbed again—no ripping up of walls and floors being required. This system can also be used for communicating between one part of a ship and another. R. Cowan & Co. are also prepared to supply and fit up communication between Police, Fire, and Railway Stations, the various departments of Manufacturing and Mercantile Establishments, Mansions, and Outbuildings, &c, &c.
