ST. BATHANS.

The residents of St. Batharis and Cambrian, have petitioned tho--Postmaster-General to have thopost-pfllce St. Bathans converted also into money-order office and|post-office savings bank. The petition was numerously signed and forwarded a week ago through Mr. Barr, Chief-Post-master, Dunedin.
The weather continues to be wet,'arid oven cold, for this time of year.' Gat crops are looking well, but of the more tender vegetables you could 1 not; thus far 5 ' cull what would make a salad.: Of course, with such abundance of water, the miners are doing well. As yet there is not much excitement about the , approaching: elections; Judging, however, from what one does hear oc- ! casionally, Mr.de LautoUr is likely'to be well supported here—at all events there are no complaints of him, and that is a gOdd r -::-]■.: „.■,] : ,, ; .. : :? ■/;%,. .
