Opposition is threatened to Mr. Murray for Bruce; and to Mr. Thomson for the thq Cluthai but we doubt if it will be serious in the latter case. The seats of Messrs . Steward and George - M'Leanmay be considered safe; but for the additional seat there is certain to be a number/of candidates, -Mr. Cuthberson bas not finally •decided upon retiring, tout should he stand for Inverca'rgill there will be at least thee candidates. Indeed all the . Southland seats promise to be hotly contested,—'Star;'
