RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Tuesday, September 14. (Before H. V/. Robinson, Esq., 8.M.) 'Two inebriates, it being their first offence, were discharged with a caution. The evidence of the police was to the effect that the men were found on the afternoon of the previous day lying on the road in a state of absolute prostration and stupefaction. The Magistrate remarked that these men had no appearance of being habitual or even occasional drunkards, but, from the evidence of the police, would appear to have been laboring under the effects or some stupefying drug. He cautioned the Sub-Inspector of Police to keep an eye on those houses which were supposed to be in tho habit of selling adulterated and deleterious liquors, and also to report any landlord who supplied drink to persons when drunk. If a ease of this description could be proved the license of the house would be cancelled.
