The defendant did not appear, and, it being stated that the presence of witnoss was essential to the establishment of plaintiff's case, his Worship made an order that the sum of £lO Ba. 10d., with costs 9s. bo paid forthwith; failing such payment, tho defendant to be imprisoned in Auckland gaol for tho term of one month, under section 8 of tho Imprisonment for Debt Abolition Act, 1874]
