MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting was held at the Council Chambers, Town Hall, on Wednesday evening last; present —his Worship the Mayor, Cra. Greer, Brookes. Craig, and Inder. The minute s of the last meeting were read and confirmed. COBBESPONDENCB. —OTJTWABD: Copy of letter to Sub-Inspector M'Cluskey, requesting him to recommend a constable to act in the capacity of Inspector of Nuisances. Copy of letter to the Captain of the Fire Brigade, intimating that all matters relating to expenditure must be submitted for the approval of the Council before the same is incurred. Copy of letter to Messrs. M'G-rath and Flannagan, calling immediate attention to the state and condition of the road leading from Mr. Jacob's dwelling, and giving notice that the necessary work pointed out to them by the General Purposes Committee must be done forthwith, or action would be taken under their bond. BEPOBTS. The General Purposes Committee reported that, in consequence of several complaints made to them by persons inconvenienced by M'Grath and Flannagan working away a portion of Ness-street, they had that day inspected the road, and directed that certain work should be done immediately for the convenience of traffic. The report of the Finance Committee was read and adopted, on the motion of Cr. Brookes ; and accounts amounting to £77 2s. 6d. were passed for payment.
