The railway bridge over the Taieri at Otakia has been tested with about ninety tons weight. An engine and seven trucks containing earth crossed, it several times, and the deflection was only five-eighths of an inch. The section between the Reliance and Waiho,-. la'bridges'is progressing favorably, and is.now being ballasted^.-The Waihola 'bridge* will be completed in about three weeks' time, and [the Chain Jl.ills tunnel in weeks! There is nothing (adds the ' Bruce Herald ') to hinder the line between Dunedin ani the Olutha being opened for traffic on the iat of ye|'tember. -
