A Good Templar recently made mourns because the JKoinau word '" commence" i* taking the place of the good huqjlisu word " begin." lne latter is a compound word, made up of three-fifths gin, aud people don't take it in their mouths in these temperam-e times. A telegram received in London fixm Singapore report* that an outbreak occurred amongst llie Chinese piisoners in that place, which was not supprPFFed before sixty-seven were k.lled and injured, including sixteen warders ot the gaol.
