Mr. A. M'Gregor, from England, ha been appointed to Oanhvi m Sj'ioj (Welshman's Gully), near St Hathans. Connelly and party have applied to the Warden for a prospecting claim for new: ground discovered by them in the vicinity of llauhau, about four miles from lloki -' tilea. The Warden gr mted the applica -! tion. 'J he prospectors state that they have' been prospecting for a morth, have sunk a; shaft over 40ft deep, and struck washdirt; 7 feet thick, with gold throughout, whichj yielded Idwt. to seven. dishfuls. This is considered a very! good yield, and the ground .has.been rushed by a large number of the diggers. It" will ;be a .weV- - :,>» so before the value of the adjoining;c!..in/i* is known.
