[Owiriff to an interruption last night between Naaeby and Dunedin, our usual telegrams have not reached us. Efforts were made to communicate via Clyde, but the Clyde office was deserted. Last week ■ the line was interrupted near the Kyeburn, owing to a grass fire burning down two telegraph poles.j
St. Bathans, Friday, 8 p.m. A_ telegram has been received to day intimating that the Government were willing to contribute £l5O towards a new schoolhouse, to be of stone. Tenders for the work will be called immediately. A public meeting to consider the advisability of forming a district Medical Club will be held on Saturday night. The new post office, under the charge of Mr. Bunny, the telegraphist, will be opened to-morrow.
Subscriptions towards the annual race meeting are coming in freely. The lqcal scientists are preparing to take observations of the transit of Venus.
