MACRAES.—Oct. 21.

.Resident Magistbate's Coubt. (Before H, W. Robinson, Esq., R.M.)

Police v. Sarah Bieh.— Information under the Licensing Ordinance,-1865, for unlawfully exposing liquor for sale. The Court did not consider that an exposure, within the meaning of the Ordinance, had been proved; and the case was accordingly dismissed.

Same y. W. E. Griffen.—This was an information for the same offence as above. Constable Jones proved that he had entered the store of the defendant, and had seen a cask of beer on tap—also a keg of whiskey. He had seized and taken away the whiskey, and two bottles of porter ; but, as regarded the cask, he had only a sample, which was produced. The defendant stated that he only kept the liquors to treat his customers; but the Bench held that there was an exposure for sale —the store being open for business, and the liquors on view. As it appeared that there had been two previous convictions against the defendant, the Court inflicted the full penalty of £SO, and ordered forfeiture of the fermented liquors seized, in default of distress, three months' imprisonment. [He did not pay the fine, and was therefore forwarded to Dunedin, and received into the gaol on Saturday, for the purpose, of undergoing his term of imprisonment.] Laurence Flynn v. John Dodd.—Debt £lB 17s. 9d. Mr. Eowlatt for defendant. Judgment, by consent, for £l2 45., and costs 19s. A slaughtering license was granted to J.B.L.Luks. ». ■ Warden's Court. (Bofore H. W.
