OTAGO MINING ASSOCIATION.
% [crKCTTLAB/] Central Association Office, Naseby. Sm,—T have to bring under your notice : >i<v nece.-sity of making bei ter conduct of the Central Association business, uutil the next ineftiug of delegates. Mr. C. F. Roberts having engaged in business which will necessitate his continued absence from Naseby has felt it necessary t»proffer to remaining members, of whom you are one, his resignation. As many matters constantly croji up, and many others requiring prompt attention assuddenly suggest themselves, giving very iittle time for the office-bearers to obtain advicefrom the honorary members, the Treasurer,, and myself, upon whom the responstbi.ity really rents, would suggest that the other district delegate, Mr. J. Ewing, should be appointed Honorary Presiden*, until the next meeting of delegates. At the present time political questions havehot shaped themselves sufficiently to justify the expense of calling together a special meeting of delegates. Would you kindly iuform me; at yomr eariiest convenience, if you approve of thesuegestion, or, failing approval, kindly suggest an alternative course. I have the to be,. Yours, &c., Geo. CiAEEE, Secretary;. . Secretary
[CEBCTOAB.]Otago Central Association, Nasehy. : D*a» See, —Be so good as- to euggesfc toyour committee the desirability of considering: how the Goldfields would be affected by a change in the present system of Provincials administration, more particularly with reference to the idea thrown out by Mr. Vogel of' placing the Goldfields under the same mode o£" management as the Immigration Department. Public opinion on the- Goldfields ought to be matured on Shis- matter, in the face of an-, exceedirg probability of a sudden change resuming from, any alteration of the relationsbetween the Provinces and the Colonial Government. The Provincial Government would be gladl of any practical suggestion as to what shape the bonus agreed to by the last Provincial Council—for the best practical gold-saving apparatus for alluvial sluicing—could take, in* being publicly offered for competition; Your Committee might be- able to make- wvaluable suggestion. I have the honor to-be, Sir, Your obedient servant,Geohge Clajiee,. SecretarySecretary
