The ordinary meeting, of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening last. H. Gason, whose tender was accepted at last meeting for roofing Town Hall, had declined to sign the conditions, and that, in accordance with the resolution, he had offered the work to Mr. George Stephens, the next lowest tenderer, who had accepted the contract, with the conditions, which he had signed. The Town Cleek read and laid upon the table a statement of the audited accounts for the half year ending 30th June, by which it appeared that, on that date, there was a balance in the' bank to the amount of £863 17s. sd. : BETIBING COUNCILLOBS. The Mayob stated that, 1 as this was the last meeting of the present Council, he availed himself of the opportunity to express his thanks to the retiring councillors for the kind and courteous treatment and the assistance he had received from them in his position as Chairman, and hoped the new Council would work as pleasantly together as the last.
