REUTER'S UNPUBLISHED TELEGRAM. London, April 28.—The London-Colonial wool sales opened this'evening: upwards of 7;500 bales were offered, Port Phillip wools preponderating. The. attendance of both Home and Foreign buyers was large, Foreign buyers being especially numerous. The usual eagerness observable at the opening day was absent, and prices, compared with last series, show a decline. The arrivals to date are 290,000 bales. The second day's wool sales shewed more animation on the part of buyers. Washed wools are Id lower, and half-breds 2d; Cape wools remain unchanged. London, May I.—There is a serious famine in Asia Minor; hundreds of persons are dying daily. May 2.—The wool sales are marked by considerable languor, and 2,000 bales have been withdrawn. The merchants have decided to have only four sales this series instead of live; and the next sales to commence August. 10. Balme and Co. report the decline on fleeces to be a £d to 2d on scoured, and lambs l£d; on half-breds Id to 3d. • New York, May I.—The overflow of the Mississippi inundated 14,000 square miles of country in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi, including a portion of the best cotton plantations.
