There is great excitement regarding the strike among the machinists on Erie Railway. A detachment of troops, and the Wyoming Artillery, with four field-pieces, accompanied the pickets at once, and stationed about the town and depot, and the depot property was taken possession of. Trains were despatched guarded by 400 soldiers. Tyrrel, the correspondent of the ' Cincinnati Commercial', shot at and killed the Hon. Harry Meyers in Covington. He was a law partner with the United States Senator Stevenson. Meyers was counsel for Tyrrel's wife, who had applied for a divorce. The shooting occurred at Meyers's office while he was taking the deposition. The Louisiana House of Representatives voted lOOjOOOdols. to capture the outlaws in the western portions of the State. General Wolseley will be rewarded with, the rank of Major-General, and a pension of £7,500 per annum for two lives. The Albion Shipping Company launched the ship Dunedin at Glasgow on March 3rd. She will be the first of new line to Otago by Henderson and Co. COMMEBrIAIj. Helmuth Schwartze and Co., on 10th March, report the wool market as follows : '"Not much spirit prevails; buyers are bidding with reluctance, which reflects a dull state of trade—still the wool is evidently wanted. Prices are subsequently not only maintained firmly at present level, but in not a few cases show a tendency to advance."
