The minutes of last ordinary and special meetings were read 'and "confirmed.". • ••'■'■ The Mayor stated that he and Or Brookes -had./waited :on the Groldfields. Secretary dri reference to the Municipal reserves and" Naseby Court House. Mr. Bastings promised that there would be no difficulty in the matter of the Municipal reserves beinc; granted; also, that he thought the Vote of the General Go-" verhment"for a'new'Court-houseat Naseby would be subsidised in a like amount,'by'the Provincial Government, with the consent of the-Provincial"Council. - '■.--•.,-'■,;' The following report was,then read :—' "The Public Purposes' Committee report to the Council that they have instructed the Inspector" of' Nuisances to proceed against all owners of property or other obstacles \ on Tay,-street, subject to the approval of the Council. . „ , ~ ' "The Committee referthecase of M'Nally's contracts to the Council. . ." Brookes seconded, and carried—"That a Committee be' .appointed.'Vto report to'the .Council'at" next meeting as to tile'advisability of the Municipality erecting an isolated store for the storing of kerosene, and the'' framing of a byelaw to render it finable to keep more than a nominal quantity in any one house or premises. Cr. de Lautour proposed, and Cr. Brookes seconded—" That" the Council take into consideration the advisability of recommending that the reserve, vested,, in the Superintend dent of Otago, at Naseby for recreation purposes, „be .cancelled." ~ -.,-," The-motion was withdrawn in favor of the following amendment, which was proposed by Cr. Wilson,? secondedt-'by Cr. Craig, and carried—"That the Clerk write to the Miners' Association; -asking that were,-" say, two chains taken off .the southern boundary .of.theJKecreation Ground (adjoining-Webber and Moore's tail race) and reserved for mining purposes, would the Association object to the remaining portion being .Vested in the Corporation as a Recreation Reserve for the -town'."
