The usual weekly meeting of the Waste 1 Lands Board was held last week. Pres-; ent: The Chief Commissioner, Mr. Thorn- 1 son (in the chair), and Messrs. Clark,; Bastings, Strode, Butterworth, and Heidi The following ' business was disposed of :

Notice op Appeal.—Mr. Haggitt, for Messrs. Oakden and Brown of Oaraaruj and for the Hon. R. Campbell, gave notice of appeal against the decision of the Waste" Lands Board, February 26, 1874. —Noted. A Woollen Manufactory.—The report of Mr. Beetham,' District Land ufficer, on th'e application of Mr. Wm. Robertson to purchase three acres of land at , One-mile Creek, for a. woollen manufactory;, was; read.—Refused.; Coal Leases. —Mr. E. Cook appeared in support of the adjourned, application of Mr. Phillips for a coal lease on section 117, block 11., Leaning Rock' district. Declined in the meantime.—Mr. Connelly for Mr.'Dayid- Burnett applied that six months' protection might be granted him •to prospect'for coal on run No. 23. The . application' was grante'd;—Messrs. Thompson and Irving applied for a lease of section 117, Leaning Bock district, for coal!mining purposes. Declined. Messrs. Durward applied for a coal lease on the.Kyebjirn;Diggings. The, followr ing minute was recorded : " Referred for advice to the District: Land Officer. The Board wish to grant five, acres only to one party, and would like to know how such areas could be best allocated for .being advantageously ' worked, and for meeting the requirements of the public. , Survey Fees.—Mr; Beetham forwarded applications for sections'in the Dartmoor, on which'survey fees had not been' paid. —Noted.

Applications to Exchange.—Messrs. Griffith Thomson and William Bruce ap-. plied to exchange agricultural leases of sections 10 and 16, block 11., Tiger Hill, for leases under the Waste Lands Acts. —Postponed.'

A Pre-emptive' Right.—Mr. Tolmie applied, on behalf of Mr. Henry Campibell, for a pre-emptive right on'run 239. —Noted. • '

Application to Survey.—Mr." Tolmie also applied for permission to" make a private survey of his' run, situated on block XIII., Waipahi district. —Referred to the Chief Surveyor.' ' * " Fences.—• The Provincial Secretary brought under the notice of the Board the question of fences in the Tiger Hill district. — The Board approved of Mrl Warden Simpson's suggestion m the matter.

Water-races. Mr. Simpson wrote bringing under the notice of the Board the, .subject of the of the watef races in Roxbui'gh district.—Certificates approved, and referred to the Survey Department for. the deduction of races. •
