MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Council wns held in the .Council Chambers, «ou Wednesday evening last. Present —His Worship the Mayor, Crs. de Lautour, Hjorring, Craig, and Brookes. The minutes oft the previous meeting were read and confirmed. COKRFBFONDENCE.—• INWABD : Letter from Mr. Morgan, informing the Council that his contracts, No. I,and2, Kyeburu road, were finished, and waiting inspection.—Cr. de Lautoub proposed to visit the works on Friday next, and report to .the, Council. Letter received from Secretary, Naseby Volunteer Fire Brigade, stating that lie was instructed to tender the resignation of Mr. Walter Inder, as captain, and urging that a meeting of the Brigade to re-organise and also to appoint a captain be called. . * or\ wakd: * A copy of a telegram was read from his Worship the Mayor to the Goldfields Secretary asking if' Mr. R. Browne, sur- **» veyor, might be allowed to lay off the roads, in place of Mr. Barron, who alleges pressure of other prior engagements. His Worship informed the Council that he was aware correspondence had 'taken place between the Government and these officers, but an arrangement was t not quite effected, It was understood, however, that the survey would be at once proceeded with. FtHB BHJGAPE. Movpd by Cr. de Lautouh, seconded by Cr. BuooKiss, and carried ' " That his Worship the Mayor invite the members of the Fire Brigade to meet at the Council Chntnbers to appoint a captain in the the stead of Captain Inder, resigned, at, such time as he may think fit. POUND FOB STRAY HORSES AND CATTLE. The Committee reported that they were ixuablo to agree in this matter, and begged to report the same to the Council to settle. After some discussion the matter was postponed, sine die. FINANCE. The following accounts were, on the 1 recommendation of the Finance Committee, passed for payment:—Wru. Jacob, Town Hall contract",. £ ( JH; Wm, Duncan, laoov, 155.; Peter Talbot, labor, £2 MK; Wm. Mossman, labor, &c, £2 lis. 6d.; John Oogan, contract Broom-street, £l6; John Cogan, carting, 17s.
