SAINT PATRICK'S DAY AT ST. BATHANS.

(To the JZditoPofihe Moron IdaChbonicib.) Sib,—On Tuesday last, the 17fcli inst.,. the St. Bathanites iield their fifth or sixth, anniversary picnic and dance in honor of Ireland's apostle. The picnic was largelyattended, and liberally subscribed to by our immediate neighbors from the FourMile, Blackstone Hill, and other places. The Committee entrusted with the management of the affairs felt much disappointed at the non-arrival of a cask of yourNaseby best brew, with which they hoped to regale theirnumerous visitors. Thepublicans of St. Bathans, strange to say, one and all, were clean out of the article, and. Mr. Greer Jailed to supply orders in time for the The Committee could not help.this, and for any other real or apparent deficiency which may have existed they would ask the kind indulgence of all -their friends, The games were numerous contested, notably the football, whTch had a very exhiliratin? effect, not oniy on the players, but the lookers-on. 'So much for the picnic. As for the dance in the schoolroom at night, nothing could be better, conducted, or more successful. In decoration Mr. M'Cormick made the room shine. The music, which, by the way, was excellent, was rendered by Mr. Alelvin, St. Bathans, and Messrs. Deaker and Vickery, Naseby. The dancers, who thronged the room, testified their appreciation by remaining until near dayligkt. In conclusion I have, on behalf of the Committee, to thank the following named persons for their valuable assistance in various ways viz., Mrs. Prescott, Messrs. Wilkes, VV heeler, Murphy, Gilhooley, and Smith; and also a number of-friends who levelled the racecourse: in fact, it would be tedious to name all those who tided the Committee in carrying out this year's celebration, which, notwithstanding one or two slight drawbacks, has been, on. the whole, very successful.—l am, &c-, Onk of the Cojuiitte^. St. Bathans, March'2o, 1874.
