St. Patrick's Day. at Jfaseby was not to be allowed to'pass, despite the'dull times, without a fitting recognition. A liberal programme of sports, sunder; the auspices of the Hibernian Society, had been published beforehand, whicir induced many old hands to.visit the ground,-if only to see whether they were grown too stiff to spurt over the >!at with the young ones-. A,c()!d- cutting morning :d)ecoming ;inore; iavorable towards noon,>,and iterminating m a pleasant evening, was the character of:, the day. Mr. Gason, who had the booth, catered in*a very liberal rnnriner for the ( public. The Naseby, Brass Band enlivened the proceedings . lijj their ;p resence, Mr.,lnder's:paddock; was'as usual' the scene of sport. TlVe following is the, programme of sports : First event: Quoit Match—lß yards, prize £l. Winner—L. Hore. Handicap Foot Race. Distance, 100 yds. First prize, £1; second, 10s."
