Tbe Scandinavian Water Race Com pany were objectors to the application o James Williams, Thomas Hanrahan, anc others, for a special claim at Surface Hill and a right to construct a sludge channe from thence down Muddy Creek to tin Manuherikia. Mr. W. L. Eailey ap peared for the applicants, Mr. J. Ewin; for the objectors. Mr. Ewing requeste< -that certain conditions should be impose) upon the applicants—that the Warden': power to stop miDers discharging at air time tailings down Muddy Creek shouli not be conferred on him till tbe sludg channel applied for was completed. Mi Eailey was heard in reply. The Wardei promised to recommend in accordanc with the objectors' request.
