WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held last week. The Chief Commissioner (Mr. J. T. Thomson) presided. There were also present—Messrs. A. C. Strode, J. L. Butter worth, H. Clark, and J. Reid. Queenstown.-—The Town Clerk of Queenstown asked the opinion of the Board whether the District Land Officer could impose costs when granting an adjournment or not. —-Mr. Strode: The Town Clerk should be recommended to. apply to the Corporation Solicitor.— Matter referred to Corporatiou Solicitor accordingly. / Woolen Factory.—The application of Mr. Hallenstein for a lease of three acres for a woolen factory at the mouth of the One-Mile Greek, was referred,to the District Land Officer for advice. Agricultural Leases. The district Land Officer forwarded Messrs. Campbell and Low's application' for agricultural leases on runs 220 and 229, and : explained the excess of acreage. Applii cation noted. Opinion of District Land I Officer confirmed.
Naseby.—The objection of Messrs Kenyon and Turton, on behalf of Mr David M'Cready and Company, of Naseby, to the granting of a coal lease to Durward, of Kyebu'rn, was referred to thj£ District.
