WASTE LAND BOARD.

The usual" meeting of the Board was held last 'week Present: Messrs J.'T. , Thomson, Bastings, Clark, Reid, Strode, nnd'Butterworth Mr. \V. A', Morris, manager for the Otago and Southland Investment Company, protested against the withdrawal " Irom sale of sections 18 and part of 16, block 8, Waipahee. • The.ground was ordered to be sold with the road line, as shown in the map. Messrs. J. and A. Bathgate applied, on behalf of Messrs. Durward and (Jo., Kyeburn, for a coal lease of two acres adjoining their present'' lease. The application was reserved for the runholders'. consent. Mr. O. F.- 0; Brown protested against 11. Bruce mining for lignite in Crown lands in the locality in which he held his lease. The Ranger' was instructed to carry out the jaw in terms of section 93, of the Waste Lands Act, 1872. It. was resolved that Mr. Stanbrook be nsked if he ,was prepared to carry on his engagement, and conduct sales in Naseby. Mr. Walter Tnder wrote offering to conduct sales in that place. Naseby District. Mr. Stratford was appointed Land Officer for this district, during the .absence of Mr. Warden .Robinson. Mr. R. W. Capstick was appointed auctioneer for the Tokomairiro district, and Mr. W. Hay for Lawrence. Mr. Stanbrook,-' auctioneer, Clyde, was requested to carry out his engagement. An application by Theodore Russell to puvchase a' piece of land in Pembroke under clause 29 was refused, the Board having no power to act in the matter. The sale of sections 12 13, and 16, block 8, Glenkenich, by auction, was ordered to proceed. Mr. Roberts applied for pre-emptive right on. run 21b A survey was ordered to be furnished.

On the motion of Mr. Bastings, it was agreed that in future all pre-emptive rights bo granted strictly in terms of regulations in regard to frontages. An application by Mr Ahnao for part of the Ocean Beach Bush Reserve, near Anderson's Bay, was refused.
