Wilson—" That the Mayor be re- ; quested >to ask Mr. Geo. Stephens, 'or I some other-competent person,' to organise ;and take charge of the Fire Brigade." 'Carried/ , FINANCE. I The following sums were, on the recommendation of the Finance Committee, [passed for payment:—Mossman, £1 55.; iMiller, 165.; Petty Cash, £5. The Town' Clerk, in answer to Cr. iCbaig, stated that the amountof rates received up to'date was £B7 2s. lid, leaving a balance due of £64 9s. lid. 1 nasebt town hall. Three tenders wore opened for the ! building of. the Town Hall; and, after isome discussion, it .was proposed by Cr. de Latjtour, seconded by Cr Cbatg, and carried—"That the General Purposes ; Committee be requested to report on the opened tenders to an adjourned meeting of the Council to be held at the Council Chambers to-morrow (Thursday), February. 12, at four p.m., and that the Council do now. adjourn." An adjourned' meeting was held on Thursday last at 4 p.m. Present—His Worship the- Mayor, Crs. Inder, Craig, Brookes, and de Lautour. BEPOBT. The report of the General Purposes i Committee was read and adopted-on the : motion of Cr. de Lautour, seconded by ,Cr. Craig. The Committee stated that after careful examining and considering the tenders sent in, they recommend Mr. Wm. Jacob's tender be accepted for building walls of Town Hall, provided he ,is prepared to agree to complete the ' work in such time as the Committee ma}' think reasonable. re TOWN HALL. Moved by Cr. liider, seconded by Cr. de Lautour, and carried—"That the General Purposes Committee be authorised fo appoint a suitable person to inspect the works, at a salary not exceeding £6 6s.
