SOUTH WARD.
(To the Editor of the Mount Ida Cheonio£k.) Sib,—The reason of my writing to you is to complain of the state of the culvert a short distancb below the schoolhouse. "Very frequently .of late this culvert has been in a dangerous state, and at present there is a hole in it fully two feet by one, and oyer a foot deep. My attention was called to it by a horse stumbling over it on Wednesday last. Had not the rider had a firm hold of the reins, he would in all probability have been thrown. I hope the Municipal Council will see. that .this' is kept in better tha,n it lately'has been.—l am, &c., > - I . Incog. [This culvert has been for a very considerable time a source of danger. A very good action fori damages would rest against the Corporation should an accident occur. This i reflection should be sufficient to.cause an order to at once issue to the right parties for its proper repair.—Ed. AJ.I.C.]"
