INTERFERENCE AT MAEREWHENUA.
The mining delegate from Maerewhenua, who lias visited a few of the upcountry Groldfield centres, lias received great encouragement. We gladly publish the following letter from the St. Bathans Miners' Association : St. Bathana, Oct. 27, 1873. Sib, —In answer to yours of 23rd insfc., forwarded by Mr. M'Leod, I liare to inform you that, at a meeting of the Committee of the St. Bathans District Miners' Association, held tonight to consider the matter, the following resolution was passed unanimously—" That the Association views with alarm the attempt of Messrs. 13 or ton and M'Master to interfere with sluicing operations at Maerewhenua, and ia-of opinion that Miners' Associations, and miners generally throughout the Province, should unite in assisting the miners of Maerewhenua to resist this—the first attempt of thekind, which, if successful, might entirely destroy all security for carrying on one of the most important industries in the Province — hydraulic mining.—l am, &c., Johjt EWIKG, Hon.
