LOWER KYEBURN DIGGINGS.

A public, meeting was hold on the 14th in3taiit,'• at Mr. Cain's Flagstaff/Hotel,, for the-pur pose of 'electing a Progress Committee, Mr. Keens was voted to the chair. : Affcer,th,e .preliminaries had been explained, Mr. Durwar.l proposed—" That a Committee be'formed, to bs called the Lower Kyeburn Prbgrsss Committer.'' : This proposition wag seconded by Mr. Morgan. An amendment;wa3 proposed by--* Mr. J. Cain—" That the meeting; adjourn to the following Saturday." The amendment. -was put to the meeting, andtihe voting on both'/sides was equal. The Chairman then put the original proposition, which was carried, and the following Committee appointed:— Messra. Coomb, M'Hardy, Morgan, M'Oreadie, James Cain, James M'WEirter, and John Durward. It was then proposed by Mr. Cain, and seconded by Mr. Coomb—" That this Committee hold office for twelve months." Carried. ; Proposed by Mr. M ; Hardy, : and seconded by Mr. James Cain—"That the Committee oall a public meeting at the end of their tenure of office, .and resign their trust into the hands of the public." Carried. / Mr. Durward then proposed "That this meeting be which was seconded by Mr. Morgan and carried. A vote of thanks was proposed to the chair. Mr. Cain suggested that it would be as well if the Chairman reported, the proceedings of the meeting, wh'ich.was earned nem. con.' The meeting then dissolved.
