THE ROYAL REVIEW IN WINDSOR PARK.
When the inspection, in line had been completed, the Queen and her Royal visitor (the Shah of Persia) returned to the saluting flag, and the march past was begun. It was led by the iloyal Horse Artillery, who, in their wasp pattern uniform, went past the Sovereigns with the accurate dressing of a foot regiment. Next to them.came the most magnificently attired troops in the service the .Life Guards. With them ride an equally famous regiment the Horse Guards (Blue), the corps which have the finest pliisique in the service ; and, nest the the Carabineers, with their memories of Uamilies, Blenheim, and Malplaquet; the 7th and 13th Hussars, and the batteries of the Royal Artillery. The Coldstreams, who come next in succession, march with equal regularity, but being less of stature they hardly make so distinct an impression on the assemblage. Both they and the Scots Itusiliers, come in for a share of the enthusiasm which has now set in—an enthusiasm which becomes even more demonstrative as the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders stalk past, in the garb of Old GaiiL to the air " Highland Laddie." The Shah, who stood alongside the .Comman-der-in-Chief, a little in front of the Queen's carriage, and who had witnessed everything up till now with the stoical gravity of an Asiatic, was roused out of his impassability by the sight of these Highland Amazons, and turned to speak to her Majesty, who seemed much amused at his remarks, and leaning back in her seat laughed heartily. His gaze followed them for some little distance, and it was noticed that to their colors alone he gave the honor of a salute.
