NOMINATION OF COUNCILLORS.
About fifty persons assembled in front of the Council Chambers on Tuesday last, whenthe following nominations of" Councillors for the several wards and Auditors were road by the Town Clerk':— EAST WAKD. Alexander Craig, proposed by R. Aitken, seconded by Jno. M'Gregor. As this was the only candidate- for this ward, the Mayor declared ' Alexander Craig "elected. west w-aed, . E. T. George, proposed by Thos. Baird,. seconded by E. C. Smith. Walter Inder, proposed by John Cogan, seconded by John J. Smith. SOUTHWARD. Henry Anderson, proposed by-Wm. Guffie, seconded by E. T. George. Niels Peter ffjorring, prpposed by John G. Bremner,. seconded-by D. G-unn, ATTDITOKS. The following gentlemen were then declared elected by the Returning Officer —no. other names having been lodged : t J. S. M'lntosh, proposed by ; M. Brookes, seconded by L. W. Busch. William Grumitt, proposed by M. Brookes, seconded-by L. W. Busch. A vote of thanks to the Mayoi" and -Returning Officer brought the proceedings to a close.
