At 11 a.m. on Monday last, the Returning Officer, Mr H. W. .Robinson, announced the final state of the poll, and' declared Messrs Oliver and de Lautour duly elected. >v There were only three or four persons present, the result being known t beforehand. * Mr Armstrong thanked the electors for the support that had been given him': he said that if the miners' rights had been more regular, he. thought the result would have been different.
