OPENING THE ATHENÆUM ON SUNDAYS.
(To the Editor of the Mount Ida Chronicle.) Sib,—l wish, to draw your attention to an alteration, which, if effected, .would be a great boon to the miners. I refer to the opening of the Athenseum on Sun-* days. I would not, of course, wish that it should be opened during church hours* but would it not be as well to hare it opened for an hour or two in the afternoon, and again in the evening after church. A great many of the men would sooner go in there, and wile away an hour, than be leafing about the hotels, and taking. the bar-girls out to walk,. The librarian, perhaps, would not care to come on Sundays to look after it, but I think- an extra wage would settle that question; and the additional number of subscribers would quite justify this small expenditure. I hope the Committee will give this subject ample and favorable consideration. Their acquiesance on this point will confer a great boon on I am, &c., - ' , Book-Wo bm.
