WASTE LANDS BOARD.
(From the 'Star.') ■ The usual meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held in the-Waste Lands Office,- last, week. .. Present, iho Chief Commissioner, and Messrs Strode, Buliterworth, and Clarke. A letter was read from ?\fr. Hallenstein, rel.itiyc to of the quirters" o:" the Surveyor, of Qm-enstown, which had-just been pu-chased from the Government,. It was submitted that the loss should be made good by the Government. The. matter was referred to the Government. * \ Mr. Grumitt, hon. sec, applied .for a site for a Church of England, adjoining that .occupied by. the- Koman Catholic Cii.nrch at JXaseby. The application was referred to the District Lind Officer ; a survey to be submitted before the Board gave.a decision. William and Daniel Mac ready applied for a coal lease of five acres, adjoining their present one/at Kyeburn. • 3 Inferred to. the District Surveyor to report that' the live acres have been worked out before any more was granted. A letter "from the District Land Officer Naseby, was received, relative to ' the difficulty of reconciling sections 65 and 5 f J of the Wfcste Lands Act, 1872, arid advertising applications for water races. The applications weiv to be- advertised in the usual course. The District Land Officer at Queenstown aslced the Board in what way, under sub-section 2 of sec: ion sa, should objections be publicly notified, and if they were to be advertised, who would have to bear the expense? The'Board'were of opinion that the nature of the obj.eiion.s may be posted at the Court House, and"that the advertisements should be paid by the applicants. & ■ ■ Mr. Mai loch appeared to apply for twelve .months' .extension to his holding the township reserve, Upper Taieri. The application was declined.
