INTERPROVINCIAL TELEGRAMS.
Wellington, May.2i:' A telegram received by the Native Minister from Major Mair, reports that " Kewi had just come into Kdpua to meet Mr Mackay." Purukuru has been sent for again by a special messenger, and it is said that this will be the last messsage sent to him. It is reported that Purukuru has only seven men with but that about seventy will join him, if he be attacked. Auckland, May 24. Government is vigorously preparing for war. Immense stores of warlike material are being collected in the Waikato district. The general feeling is that the war cannot be avoided, and the natives are of the same opinion. New rifles were served out yesterday •tothe Constabularly stationed in Auckland. Great moi tality is reported amongst the horses in the Northern= Districts, in consequence of the late rains. May 25. Mr Mackay had an interview with Eewi, which was most satisfactory. Kewi has determined to stand neutral. The Constabularly left for Walker's Swamp, when watch fires were : immediately lighted by the rebels.
