NOTES FROM ST. BATHANS.

V KASEBT HOSPITAL. April 9th. - The annual public meeting'■■.for.'the purpose of electing a local Committee' to co-opera? e with the Co mini (tee of management, \ asebv, in raising funds i for the support of the Hospital, was held ill the school room, on Tuesday evening, the Bth irist ; Mr. .ft.-'Wheeler in.the chair. There was a -good attendance. Mr. George Purfon, Secretary to the retiring Committee, gave.a brief summary of the proceedings for the past year, and the Treasurer, Miv W. Pyle, rpad the financial statement, from which it appeared that the sum of £5-1 Bs. Cd.ihad been collected and forwarded to head quarters during the year, and that £1 ss. still remained in his hands. In reply to a question by Mr. Hanger, as to the present position of the Institution, Mr. Purton stated that the Committee of management had, he understood, a considerable balance to tbeir credit. He hoped, however, that this circumstance would not induce the people of St Bathans to relax their efforts in raising funds. It was intended, he believed, to enlarge the Hospital, and this would entail a considerable outlay. With regard to the management of the Institution, he had heard on the best .authority, that it was being admirably conducted, and that the doctor and attendants were unremitting in their attention to the patients. It had been arranged to give the usual annual entertainment in aid of the fund, in February last, but from some cause or other, the matter was allowed to drop. He hoped, however, that the Amateur Dramatic Club would give an enter-

tainment during the winter in aid of so deserving a charity. After some discussion, the following gentlemen were elected a Committed for the ensuing year : —Messrs. P; : Kenny, (1. H. Smith, W. Pyle, P. Harirahan, E. Wood, Thos. Kowe, T. Mul'vey with power add four to their number. A vote thanks to the retiring Commiti.ee and the Chairman, terminated the. proceedings.
