MAEREWHENUA.—March sth.
Warden's Court. (.before H. W. Robinson, Esq., Warden.) No cases upon summons. Grants. —James Thompson, extended claim; John Eyan, do; Smiley and others, dam. , Withdrawn.—M'Leod and others, tail race; M'Kenzie and others, tail race. Main Tail Bace.—The application of John M'Leod and eleven others for main tail race in Golden Gully, was considered by the Warden. The application had been made in September, and adjourned from time to time to allow of an arrangement being made with Cooper and Co., who claimed to have the right for a tail race down the same gully. It appeared that no arrangement had been come to, and the Warden therefore had to deal with the matter upon its merits. As it was not denied that the applicants were a majority in number of persons from whose claim water and tailings flowed to the common outlet in Golden I Gully, the; Warden decided to grant a registration, upon the understanding that rules for the. construction and management of the main tail race would be presented for his approval, as provided for under Eegulation xiv. The application of John Eyan for a water race to take fifteen heads of water from the Otekaike Eiver was held over, as it did not appear that a proper copy of the application had been served upon the Hon. E. Campbell, the pastoral tenant. The Warden expressed his willingness, if the technical difficulties were disposed of, to grant a limited water right under sec. 20, Eeg. xii. A considerable portion of the time of the Court was occupied in the registration of transfers, and renewal of water licenses.
